Mono Aurel Atelier
About Mono Aurel
Mono Aurel is a sculptural design studio. We make lighting, totems, mirrors and benches in hand-layered mineral plaster — objects with the quiet weight of architecture, made one at a time.
Our Philosophy
We believe a space becomes memorable through the objects it holds. For us, beauty is not perfection — it is proportion, texture, shadow and the feeling that an object has been made, not manufactured. We are drawn to wabi-sabi aesthetics, ancient forms and hand-finished surfaces, and we make pieces for interiors that value craft over speed, atmosphere over decoration, and presence over excess.
Design Language
Our references are architectural rather than decorative: ancient columns, primitive stone forms, lunar surfaces, organic erosion, modern sculptural abstraction. These influences meet in objects that feel raw, calm and monumental at once — pieces that stand between art, architecture and functional object, designed to belong to a space rather than merely fill it.
The Atelier
Mono Aurel is established in the United States; our production atelier and material workshop are in Kayseri, Turkey — a region with a long tradition of stone, craft and hand-shaped objects. Every piece is formed, finished and packed there by our atelier team under direct supervision. It is not a factory; it is where raw material becomes sculpture.

Materials — and Why Mineral Plaster
Each piece begins as a dense sculptural core, shaped and carved by hand. Over it we build layers of mineral plaster — applied, dried and carved back until the surface reads like weathered stone. Warm pigments — ivory, bone, sand — are worked into the surface, never painted on, and a protective coat seals the finish while keeping it tactile.
We work in mineral plaster because no other material holds light the same way. It is dense like stone yet warm like clay; it takes the mark of a tool and keeps it; and it ages the way good architecture does — slowly, and with character.
Craftsmanship
The process is slow, physical and intentional: concept, carving, reinforcement, plaster, hand sanding, pigmentation, inspection in raking light, packing. No two pieces are exactly the same — slight variations in surface, tone and form are the character of the work, not a flaw in it. Read the full process.

Made to Order
Most pieces are made to order — produced specifically after purchase, never pulled from a warehouse shelf. Production typically takes 5–10 business days depending on design, size and finish. Each piece is packed like artwork and shipped worldwide from Turkey via trusted carriers such as DHL and FedEx, insured and tracked. On request, we photograph your finished piece before dispatch.

Worldwide Projects
Our pieces are made for homes, studios, galleries and hospitality spaces, and ship to clients worldwide. A selected gallery of installed pieces and client projects is being prepared for this page.

Custom Commissions
Commissioned work is a core part of the atelier — custom sizes, tones matched to RAL, NCS or Pantone references, and entirely new forms, for homeowners as well as interior designers, architects and hotels. Start a commission, or see the Trade Program for professional projects.
Looking Ahead
The atelier grows the way the work does: slowly and deliberately. New forms, new tones and small limited series leave the workbench through the year — announced first to the Atelier List.
