Materials and craftsmanship

Every piece is shaped over a lightweight sculptural core and finished by hand with multiple layers of mineral plaster, giving a dense, matte, stone-like surface. Mineral pigments, limewash tones and protective finishes are applied by hand according to the selected surface treatment. Tones sit in the ivory, bone and warm sand family and soften beautifully in natural light.

Care

Dust with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid prolonged direct water contact unless your piece was sealed for sheltered outdoor use — if in doubt, write to us; a real person from the atelier answers.

Production and delivery

Every piece is handcrafted to order in our atelier. Production typically takes 5–10 business days unless this page states otherwise; custom sizes and more complex forms may require additional time.

Your piece leaves the atelier as soon as it is finished. Delivery timing and full terms are set out in the section below.

Shipping, duties and returns

Insured door-to-door delivery is included in the displayed price unless a product page or checkout explicitly states otherwise. Once dispatched, transit typically takes approximately 3–10 business days depending on destination and service; carrier or customs delays can occur. For orders delivered within the United States, applicable customs duties and import charges are covered by Mono Aurel. For deliveries to all other countries, customs duties, import taxes and related destination charges are the buyer's responsibility. Any applicable sales taxes will be displayed at checkout where required. Every shipment is tracked and insured.

Each piece is cushioned and double-boxed like artwork, and you receive tracking as soon as it leaves the atelier.

We share production photos and videos at important stages, and send a detailed final video before dispatch. Your piece is shipped only after you have reviewed and approved it. If you are not satisfied before shipment, we will remake the piece or refund you. Because pieces are made to order, standard change-of-mind returns are not accepted once a piece has been approved and dispatched. Every product is covered by a one-year warranty: in the case of a verified manufacturing defect, product fault or qualifying transit damage, we will provide a refund or a replacement, and in most cases you will not be asked to return the original piece. The warranty does not cover misuse, improper installation, accidental damage or ordinary wear.

About this piece

Sculptural Totem Column – Monolithic Architectural Floor Piece

This handcrafted sculptural column is designed as a freestanding architectural statement object, available in 90 cm and 180 cm heights.

Each piece is built as a full cylindrical form with continuous ornamental relief and a seamless monolithic appearance. It is not visually stacked, not sectional in appearance, and reads as one solid sculptural form.

Available sizes

90 cm version

  • Height: 90 cm
  • Full cylindrical form
  • Ideal as a pedestal or accent object

180 cm version

  • Height: 180 cm
  • Strong vertical architectural presence
  • Designed as a statement floor totem

Both versions share identical diameter proportions and relief detailing.

Design character

  • Full 360° cylindrical geometry
  • Deep classical-inspired ornamental relief
  • Symmetrical carved pattern
  • Continuous surface with no visible seams
  • Strong shadow depth under directional light

The relief design creates natural light interaction, giving the piece a sculptural presence throughout the day.

Materials & construction

  • Engineered lightweight sculptural core
  • Reinforced internal support
  • Hand-applied mineral plaster coating
  • Matte architectural finish
  • Subtle handcrafted surface texture

Each piece is shaped over a lightweight sculptural core and finished by hand with multiple mineral plaster layers to create its distinctive stone-like surface. The piece is significantly lighter than solid stone but visually substantial and durable for interior use. Mineral pigments, limewash tones and protective finishes are applied by hand according to the selected surface treatment.

Finish options

Standard finish: warm ivory mineral plaster.

Optional custom finishes:

  • Sand Beige
  • Stone Grey
  • Taupe
  • Terracotta
  • Charcoal Black
  • Custom pigmented limewash

Each finish is applied by hand, resulting in slight tonal variations that enhance its artisanal character.

Functional use

The 90 cm version can be used as a sculptural pedestal, a decorative accent, or a base for artwork and objects. The 180 cm version functions as an architectural floor totem, an entryway focal point, a boutique hotel statement piece, or an interior designer feature object.

Each piece is individually finished and inspected before dispatch, and packed in secure custom protective packaging.

Important notes

This product is handcrafted. Minor texture variations are part of its character and not defects. Designed for interior use.

Notes from the Atelier

Living with the Architectural Plaster Column

Material story

Each piece is shaped over a lightweight sculptural core and finished by hand with multiple mineral plaster layers to create its distinctive stone-like surface — applied, dried and carved back until it reads like weathered stone. Mineral pigments, limewash tones and protective finishes are applied by hand according to the selected surface treatment.

Surface character

Run a hand across the surface and you will find gentle tool marks, grain and subtle shifts in tone. This variation is not a defect — it is the record of the making, and the reason no two pieces are ever identical.

How it is made

Concept, carving, reinforcement, plaster, hand sanding, pigmentation, inspection — every piece passes through the same slow sequence of hands before it is packed, one piece at a time. See Our Materials and Process.

Placement & scale

Sculptural objects work best where they can breathe — a quiet corner, an entryway, the end of a hallway, a console styled sparsely. The lightweight sculptural core keeps large architectural forms manageable to position and to move. Give the piece space and side light; plaster texture comes alive in raking light. Exact dimensions are listed above, and a written spec sheet is available on request.

Long-term care

Dust with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid soaking, harsh cleaners and abrasives. Treated kindly, mineral plaster ages the way good architecture does — slowly, and with character. Read the Care Guidance.

“No two pieces leave the atelier identical. That is the point — not the flaw.”
