Mono Aurel Atelier

Our Atelier

The Mono Aurel atelier is where every piece is carved, plastered, sanded and finished by hand. Photography and film from the workshop are being prepared and will appear here — nothing staged, nothing invented.

The Atelier

Inside the atelier

Where every piece begins — and where it is carved, plastered, sanded and finished before it travels.

The Process

From block to object

Five stages, none of them rushed.

  1. Carving

The form is cut and carved from a high-density architectural core.

  2. Reinforcement

Structural reinforcement is built into the piece before any surface work begins.

  3. Mineral plaster

Layers of mineral plaster are applied by hand and left to cure between coats.

  4. Hand sanding

Each layer is sanded back by hand until the surface reads as one.

  5. Pigmentation & finish

Mineral pigments, limewash tones and protective finishes are applied by hand according to the selected surface treatment.

Packaging & Dispatch

Built to travel

Every piece is crated by the same hands that finished it — and photographed before it leaves.
